David has been serving families in funeral service for more than 20 years.  After serving in the US ARMY during Operation Desert Storm, he attended Mid-America College of Funeral Service, in Louisville, Kentucky, and graduated in 1992.  His career has taken him from Kentucky to Arizona, Oregon and Washington.  



David feels honored to have the opportunity to carry on the traditions of Hillside Chapel, after successfully managing several Funeral Homes in the Portland area.
 
David and his wife Darcey are the proud parents of four-year-old twins, Bella & Nathan, who delight and inspire them to be the best possible people they can be. In his spare time, when it rarely appears, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing the drums and traveling.  David also serves on the board of Donate Life Northwest.
 
David is committed to serving families during their time of need.  His experience gives him the ability to assist families in making the decisions that create lasting memories and life tributes honoring the lives of the loved ones entrusted to our care.   He is truly honored for the opportunity to continue the traditions here at Hillside Chapel that the Oregon City community have been relying on for over 75 years.



Darcey Bone

Darcey Bone serves as Business Manager for Hillside Chapel.  Her career until recently has been in the nonprofit sector.  For close to 10 years, she worked as Development Director for, what was then Oregon Donor Program, and is now Donate Life Northwest.  She takes great pride in helping that organization grow its capacity and revenues sources over her time there.  After, the birth of her twins, Bella and Nathan, in 2006, Darcey left her position to become a full-time mom.

She is very excited about this new opportunity.  She very much enjoys working with her husband David to serve the families of Oregon City and the surrounding area.  She and David live Oregon City and are becoming involved in the community.

Darcey serves on the board of directors for the Senior Citizen's Council of Clackamas County, is a member of the Oregon City Rotary and is still involved with Donate Life Northwest as a volunteer fundraiser.




Samantha Gilliand

Samantha Gilliand started her career in funeral service several years ago, serving families during the initial removal from the place of death.  She soon discovered her passion for funeral service and obtained her Funeral Director/Embalmer license.  She received her degree in funeral service from Mt. Hood Community College in 2008.

Samantha began work at Hillside Chapel in 2007,working under the previous owners Randy and Jennie Thommen.  She quickly learned the business under their guidance and appreciates all they taught her.  Samantha continued working at Hillside after the change in ownership, and is pleased to be able to continue working in the community she has grown to love.

In her spare time, Samantha loves hanging out with her beagles Julius Ceaser and Frank.  Samantha is committed to growing in her skills and abilities to serve families and helping them create meaningful memories and tributes.

Samantha is an active member of the Oregon City Community, volunteering for Willamette Falls Hospital and Meals on Wheels.
