Benjamin Joseph Mazurkiewicz
March 7, 1977 - January 8, 2009
Benjamin was born in Martinez, CA. He was the fourth child of six. In childhood, Ben always helped people. He helped the widows in his neighborhood, swept the floor of the barber shop when he got his hair cut, and helped the bag boy bag groceries at the grocery store. As Ben moved forward into adulthood this gift of giving continued. He helped the elderly--repairing ceilings, doing yard work and much more. With a heart as big as Texas, he felt other people needed things more than he did. He would give away essential things to others. Ben often helped the homeless. Ben loved the outdoors. He especially loved the river. He enjoyed fishing and swimming in the river. Ben enjoyed a variety of music. The Beatles were a special favorite. Ben left his family and friends with a host of beautiful poems he has written. Ben was a wonderful poet. Ben was a plasterer by trade. He was proud of his ability to plaster and did it with artistic quality. Ben is survived by parents, Andy and Nancy Murphy of Oregon City, Oregon; brothers Richard Mazurkiewicz of St. Helens, Oregon; Aaron Mazurkiewicz and Andy Murphy of Oregon City; Lindsey Murphy of Des Moines, Iowa and Sarah Murphy of Milwaukie, Oregon; two sister-in-laws, four nieces and one nephew.
