March 21, 1928 - December 19, 2019
HAROLDENE HARTWIG 3/21/1928 – 12/19/2019 Haroldene M. Hartwig passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on December 19, 2019, at Bayberry Commons in Springfield, Oregon. She was born in Silverton, Oregon on March 21, 1928, to Harold (Curly) and Cleta (Shorty) Leach. She spent her childhood in Silverton, then moved to the Portland area and graduated from Lincoln High School. After graduation, Haroldene attended business school and went to work for U.S. Bank. She married Bob Hartwig in 1955. They lived together happily until his death in 2007. Their two sons, Mike (Leslie) and Ron (Judy) married and have three children each. Those grandchildren provided her with six great-grandchildren. She loved to spend time with her family. After she was no longer needed fulltime at home, Haroldene went to work in the North Clackamas School District. She worked at Clackamas Grade School, Clackamas High School, and the North Clackamas School District. At CHS she worked in Instructional Services and the Athletic Director’s office, after which she followed one of the athletic directors to the North Clackamas School District athletic office. She loved her “kids” at CHS – many of whom called her “Mom.” She enjoyed sporting events of all kinds. She and Bob fell in love with the Atlanta Braves, and after they both retired, they spent time visiting different cities in the U.S. to watch the Braves play ball and get to know the country. For years, they spent a week in September in Pendleton, Oregon attending Professional Bull Riding and the Pendleton Roundup. Haroldene was predeceased by her husband in 2007, and her son Ron Hartwig in 2018. She is survived by son Mike Hartwig (Leslie), Ron’s widow Judy Hartwig, her “CHS” son Russ Ahsing (Tammy), eight grandchildren, their spouses and eight great-grandchildren. She loved us all – and all who ever met and knew her loved her and will miss her. All friends of Haroldene are welcome to join us for a celebration of her life at 11:30 am on Friday, December 27th at Hillside Chapel, 1306 7th Street, Oregon City followed by internment alongside Bob at Mountain View Cemetery in Oregon City. The family thanks the staff at both Bayberry Commons Assisted Living and Signature Hospice for the kind and loving care they provided. In lieu of flowers, you may consider donating to the charity of your choice in her honor.
