John of God Magdaleno
March 8, 1932 - January 8, 2019
John Magdaleno was born to Marciano and Jenny Magdaleno. He was raised in Boyle Heights in East LA at Whittier and Soto Streets. He met his wife to be Mary Garcia right down the road at the age of 5. They were married at the age of 16 in LA. John and Mary started a family in LA and later moved to Beavercreek, OR in 1968 where he became a welder/fitter/xray welder and member of the Boilermakers Union. He worked for the Boilermakers Local 72, then Local 502 and 500 and retired from Local 549. Throughout his life John was a very hard worker and enjoyed it. He had many hobbies and was a devoted family man. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and took them on many adventures. He was a born again Christian and a member of Molalla Assembly of God. He was an avid fisherman and loved crabbing. He loved to hike and travel. Most of all he loved spending time with his family on the farm in Beavercreek where he raised pigs and chickens and grew fruits and vegetables. After retirement in 1997, John and Mary moved to Hornbrook, CA. 20 years later they moved back to Beavercreek, OR to live out the rest of his life. John was survived by his wife, Mary Magdaleno (Cha Cha). He had five children: Betty, Johnny, Gilbert, Jimmy and Deborah. He also had 9 grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He had many nieces and nephews as well from his 11 brothers and sisters: “Gallo”, Christina, “Reenie”, Arthur, Martha, “Bert”, Molly, Ray, Rosie, Alice and “Lupe”.
