Laurel Kay Curry

September 13, 1954 - March 30, 2017

Laurel Kay (Gibson) Curry passed away peacefully on the evening of March 30, 2017 at the age of 62 due to complications of lung cancer. Laurie was born September 13, 1954 in Portland, Oregon to Mary Thompson and Joseph Gibson Sr. She grew up with her siblings, Joe and Kathie, and her cousin Jeanie, in Southeast Portland and graduated from Franklin High School. Laurie married Bob Campbell in 1979 and during their marriage they enjoyed boating with the Hayden Island Yacht Club. She later married and divorced Robert Curry. In 1995 Laurie met the late Brad Beske and together they had a daughter, Jessica Breanne Beske. Jessica was the center of Laurie’s world - from leading her Girl Scout Troop, to cooking for dance team, to beach trips and many other fun adventures, Laurie always had a way of creating amazing experiences for Jessi. Laurie relished her work in HR and Payroll account management, working many years at Blount and Ceridian. She built a strong reputation on providing top tier service to her clients. She took pride in helping her clients succeed and developed many lasting friendships through her career connections. Outside of work and spending time with family, Laurie was blessed with many friendships and relished time spent with her life-long friends. Always a camera in hand, she was known as the family photographer. One of her favorite hobbies was scrapbooking and she put time and love into many albums. In summer months Laurie enjoyed camping with family and friends and working in her yard (she always had the nicest one on the street). Christmastime won’t be the same without her beautiful Christmas centerpieces and delicious banana bread. Laurie loved her family and is survived by her daughter, Jessica; mother, Mary; brother and sister in-law, Joe and Wendy; nieces and nephews, Kate and Mike, Alexandra, Garrett, Madison, Hannah, Sam, Elizabeth and Bailey; as well as many cousins. She is preceded in death by her father Joe Sr., sister Kathie and niece Sara. Please join us in remembering and toasting Laurie at her Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 29, 2017. 10705 Navajo Way Oregon City, Oregon 97045 Potluck 1-5 p.m., Informal Service at 2:30 p.m.
