Devoted husband, loving father, role model and patriot best
describe Arnold (Arnie) Ahlberg who passed away 1 January
2019. Arnie is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Aileen,
daughter Karen (Dave), daughter Lynne (Tom), son Steven
(Terri), 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Arnie's family always came first and he enjoyed every minute
of time spent with them, whether a short weekend excursion
or a more extended trip during summer vacations. He loved the outdoors
- spending time on the golf course, traveling the country with
Aileen in their 5th wheel RV, or exploring the waters of Puget
The sound in their boat, the Karen/Lynne. Arnie graduated from
Commerce High School in Portland, Oregon and began college
at Willamette University. He then studied at the University of
Washington prior to his commissioning as a Navy Ensign. A
WWII veteran, Arnie served on a mine sweeper in the Pacific
theater. After his active duty, he stayed in the Naval Reserve,
retiring with the rank of Captain in 1977. Following WWII
Arnie began a long career as a Civil Engineer for Standard Oil of
California, retiring as a Civil Engineer in 1985. Arnie was born
on 29 January 1926 in Estacada, Oregon, to Theodore and Elva
Mae Adams Ahlberg. He was preceded in death by brothers
Ted and Ken. He lived a life loved and respected by family and
friends. We will miss him dearly.
