Carol Lynn Bowers, 79, passed away peacefully in her care home on July 27, 2026.

Carol was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on November 12, 1946. She grew up in Southern California and graduated from Santa Ana High School. She married Allan Shive with whom she had two children, Roxanne and Allan Jr. They traded the sunny skies of southern California for the quieter life in the Pacific Northwest. After living in a few different locations, they ended up in West Linn, Oregon in a house that she remained in for a majority of her life. The marriage ended in divorce. She eventually reconnected with an old friend, Leon P. Yates. They married and were together until his death several decades later. They went on some adventures, including an RV trip to Alaska.

Carol worked a variety of jobs, including at Beard's Frame Shops, but spent decades working in real estate. She helped many people find or sell their homes in or near the West Linn area.

Carol had creative hobbies, including making things out of stained glass. This led her to working with a church in the mid 1990s repairing windows at an orphanage in Romania.

Late in life, she met, fell in love with, and married a widower from Iowa, Newell Bowers, who she met in church. Sadly, they only had a handful of years together before he passed away. They made good use of their short time together, including going on a river cruise in Europe.

Carol lived in Oregon City with Newell until his death. She returned to live in West Linn. She liked to spend her days walking around the off leash dog area in Mary S. Young State Park where she befriended the people and dogs that frequented the park. This dog park was a fitting spot for celebrating her life. Family, friends, old and new, and of course, dogs, gathered on a pleasant August day to remember Carol.

She is survived by her daughter, Roxanne, son, Allan Jr., nephew A.J. and his family, Kelsey, Xander and Brody, brothers Joe and Jerry and sister Linda.
