Cornelious Clarence "Clancy" Higdon

May 12th, 1943, Sylva, North Carolina - December 23rd, 2024, Gladstone, Oregon
Clancy joined the Army after high school and was honorably discharged as a Sgt in 1967 at Fort Lewis WA where he embarked on his truck driving career. Clancy loved trucks and drove, long haul, doubles, triples, dump trucks, and garbage trucks. He retired from Franz bakery after a long career. Clancy and Jean met through the Pacific NW convertible club and were married on August 3rd, 1996. Clancy's hobbies included hunting, fishing, classic cars, destruction derby, archery, bowling, and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife Jean, son Clarence, stepson Ken, sisters Sue, and Alice. Sister Mackie and brother Cory (deceased). Grandchildren Mitchell, Hal, Samantha, Monica, Jackie, Luca, River, Starlyn, Roxy, Ari, and Azalea. Clancy was proud to have so many wonderful nieces and nephews.

All children loved Clancy, and he had a way of making them feel special and loved. If they called him grampa, or pa, he considered them his grandchildren. He would fix their boo-boos, and slivers. He would play games, take them to the store for treats, or take them fishing. He built them play structures and rabbit pens.

When Jean and Clancy first met, they decided to go to the fireworks at Ft. Vancouver. On the way there Clancy stopped to pick Jean a bouquet of Daisey's – she was mildly impressed – but unsure. After the show Clancy cut some fresh Roses from the Library parking lot, that did it, she was hooked. From that day forward he would always bring her roses, daisies and 4-leaf clovers.

Clancy spent his retirement helping others. He was always there to fix a leak, move a sofa, or clean a garage. Whatever his family and friends needed he was always available.
