It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of David Andrew Beavers on November 27, 2027, due to complications from non-infectious pneumonia at the way too young age of 45. He fought hard for his life, but the illness was too much and died after a week-long stay in the ICU of Meridian Park Hospital. His wife, Rachel, brother, Jeff, and sister-in-law Heather were by his side.
A kind and gentle person, an attentive and involved father and husband, a thoughtful brother and son, and selfless friend, he leaves behind his children Wolfgang and Ryan, ages 9 and 6; his wife Rachel to whom he was devoted, his brother Jeff, parents Ann Gerson and Bill Beavers, cousins, and aunts and uncles in Oregon and Canada. David was part of the foundation of our family and we will always be grateful to have had him in our lives for the time we did. While we're experiencing unfathomable grief in the wake of this tragic loss, we will do our best to carry on his memory for his children and try to show up for people the way he did.
David's impact on his family and friends was immense. No doubt the happiest days of his life were the day he married Rachel, the day Wolfgang was born, and the day Ryan was born. He was a loyal friend with relationships dating back to preschool in Salt Lake City, and Bridlemile, West Sylvan, Lincoln and University of Oregon in Portland and Eugene. That loyalty was evident when his friends showed up for him at the hospital and for his family after his death. We are eternally grateful to them for the way they fought the battle with him in the hospital. We are grateful for Dr. Tran who fought tirelessly in an effort to save David, and who held a conference with friends and family daily during his time in the ICU to keep us up to date.
A celebration of life was held on December 6 at the Hallowed Halls recording studio and event center - an old converted Carnegie Library, appropriate for David given his love of literature, music, and the funky. We shared stories, tears, laughter, and David's favorite rum cake. David, we miss you so terribly!
