Delma Rosella Nilson, age 95, passed away on July 20th, 2016 in Gresham, Oregon.
Dee was born on July 3, 1921 in Battle Lake, Minnesota, as the 4th of 5 children, to parents Hanly and Lizzie Olson. She graduated from Washington High School in 1941. During World War II, after marrying Frank Harrington who served in the Navy, Dee worked in San Diego at the Consolidated Airplane Factory as a quality control inspector. As the children grew, she pursued work in the dental field and eventually became a dental assistant working with dental specialists at OHSU. Dee pursued her love of music, art, and dancing after her retirement. She also began painting with oils. She created more than 15 landscapes, with the Palm Springs desert and the Oregon Coast serving as her favorite inspirations.
She is preceded in death by her son, Scott Marcus Harrington of Hillsboro, her first husband, Frank Marcus Harrington, and her second husband Albert Neumeier.
Dee is survived by her husband, Helge Nilson of Rancho Mirage, California; her son, Patrick Harrington of Gresham; her brother, Curtis Olson of Cathedral City, California; 3 grandchildren, Melissa Youd, Sean Harrington, and Michael Harrington; 6 great grandchildren; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Thursday, August 11, 2016, at Greater Portland Baptist Church, 17800 SE Main Street, Portland, OR 97233. Pastor Michael Lundmark of Southridge Foursquare will be officiating. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dee's life.
