Richard "Dick" Frank Furrer

3/2/1944 – 12/25/2018

Dick was born in Portland, OR on March 2, 1944, to Frank and Susan Furrer and passed December 25, 2018, in Emmanuel Hospital in Portland, OR of a stroke. Dick grew up in Hermiston, Oregon and from early childhood, he developed an excellent work ethic. He worked various jobs and went on to retire from PGE after 42 years.

Dick graduated from Hermiston High School in 1962. Then went on to attend Oregon State University. Where he joined Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and graduated in 1965 with his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

That same year he married his childhood sweetheart, Suzanne and they had three children Rich, Wendy, and Ryan. They lived in Tri-Cities Washington, Chicago, and Portland until settling in Oregon City. Where they have lived for the past 46 years.

Dick was very involved with his community. He was a member of the Oregon City Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, scoutmaster for 20 years, and a little league coach for 10 years. He loved Football and was All-State 3 times in High School. He also enjoyed other sports and the outdoors.

Dick is survived by his Wife Suzanne, Sons, Rich and Ryan; Daughter, Wendy; Brother, Ron; Sister, Elaine; and Several Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and also his brother Danny.

A service will be held on January 4, 2019, at 11 am at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 14340 Donovan Rd, Oregon City. The Burial will take place on January 5, 2019, at 1 pm at Hermiston Cemetery in Hermiston.
