Obituary

Dixie Martindale-Palmer was born Dixie Lee Ripley on May 15th, 1946 on the Klamath Indian Reservation and passed away on August 12, 2024, in Portland, Oregon.

Dixie led a colorful life and passionately engaged in the things that she believed in. She maintained a strong interest and connection with Native American culture and history. After a successful career as a corrections officer with Multnomah County, Dixie retired, and focused on her varied interests. She will be remembered for her tenacity, spirit, and the memories she shared with family and friends.

Dixie is survived by her children, Necohle Spires and Jason Gomez, her grandchildren, Todd Spires (Madi), Hayley Roquemore (Phillip), Jason Gomez Jr., Jalea Gomez, and her great-granddaughters Emerson and Ella Spires.

Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald Ripley and Violet Bowman, her husband, Jack Palmer, her siblings, Ben Ripley, Ronnie Ripley, Margie Deweese, and Martha Gomez, and her children, Daniel (JD) Martindale III and Dawn Marie Martindale. The service for Dixie will be held on August 20th at 1:00 pm, at Hillside Chapel in Oregon City, Oregon.

Dixie will be placed to rest at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton, Oregon, near her parents, her sister Martha, and her children JD and Dawn Marie.
