Obituary

Donna Dongsoon Peloquin, affectionately known as Donna, was born on February 28, 1935, in Keomun Island, South Korea, to her loving parents Kim Duck yong and Kim Jeong yi. She peacefully departed from this world on January 24, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Donna is survived by her devoted husband, Cecil Roland Peloquin, whom she married on February 26, 1963. Their union marked the beginning of a beautiful journey together. In June of 1963, Donna left her homeland and embraced a new life in the United States alongside Cecil, creating a foundation for a family that would blossom with love and resilience.

Her memory will forever be engraved in the hearts of her three brothers: Kim Dong bae, Kim Dong ho, and Kim Hoon, and two sisters: Kim Bok ja and Kim Gyeong ja. Donna's nurturing spirit extended to her immediate family, where she leaves a profound impact on her daughter Cathleen Thompson and son-in-law Robert Thompson, daughter Cynthia Holmes and son-in-law William Holmes, and son Stephen Peloquin.

Her legacy is further carried on by her beloved grandchildren, James, Allison, Mark, Emily, Matthew, Marissa and Andrew. Donna's unwavering love and guidance have left an indelible mark on each of their lives.

Donna was more than a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother; she was a pillar of strength and a beacon of kindness. Her warm smile and nurturing presence touched the lives of everyone she encountered. She will be remembered for her selflessness, resilience, and the love she generously shared with her family and friends. She found solace and joy in her avid gardening, knitting, playing the piano, and practicing yoga and swimming for her overall well-being.

Her love for music extended to the harmonious sounds of her children and grandchildren playing musical instruments, creating a symphony of love within her home. Donna's support and encouragement fueled their passion for music, creating enduring memories for the entire family.

Beyond her more contemplative pursuits, Donna brought joy and laughter to her family through her love for card games. Dubbed the champion by her family, she relished in friendly competitions, creating lasting bonds and cherished memories during game nights that will be forever etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her creative pursuits, Donna was a woman of deep faith. She loved hymns and found solace in reading Bible scripture. Her favorite prayer was The Lord's Prayer, a reflection of her spiritual connection and the guiding force in her life. Donna's commitment to her faith was evident in her daily life, and she shared the wisdom and strength found in scripture with those around her.

Furthermore, Donna was a compassionate soul who channeled her knitting skills to create prayer shawls for members of the Community of Faith Lutheran Church who were experiencing sickness or injury. Her generosity and kindness touched the lives of many, offering comfort and solace during challenging times.

In her professional life, Donna served as a secretary for the US Army in Incheon, Korea, where she met her future husband, Cecil. Later, in Portland, Oregon, she worked as a typist for Reliance Insurance Company for many years, showcasing her commitment to hard work and excellence. She received numerous attendance awards. And through her work, she forged life-long friendships that added richness to her journey.

As we say our goodbyes, let us celebrate the vibrant and multifaceted life of Donna Dongsoon Peloquin. Her legacy is not only one of familial love but also of creativity, generosity, and a steadfast faith that illuminated her path. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory continue to bring comfort and inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
