Obituary

Dorothy C. Norton passed away peacefully in her sleep of heart failure in her Mulino home September 2.

Dorothy was born to Robert and Eleanor Caruso of Cleveland, Ohio, in 1928. She began a modeling career there and continued in New York City. She met her future husband of 61 years while vacationing on the Florida beaches. After living in Florida, they moved to the West Coast, living in Sacramento, Bozeman Montana, and finally settling in the Portland area to raise a family in the mid-1950s. They lived in Happy Valley for 35 years, then moved to Panama City, Florida, to enjoy fishing, sailing and hurricanes before returning to Oregon in 2006. Dorothy loved to experience new cultures and enjoyed travels in Europe, South America and the Caribbean. She was always a favorite of those she touched; even in difficult times she always thought more of those around her than of herself.

She is survived by her husband, Jim, her children and their spouses Bruce and Wanda Norton, Barbara and Steve Johnson, Jane and Carl Schmits, Bob and Wendy Norton, and nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 10, at Hillside Chapel, 1306 Seventh Street in Oregon City.
