Dorothy Jean Collister Voreis

Dorothy Jean Collister Voreis passed away in Oregon City on Friday February 16. She was born June 8, 1921 to Peter and Mildred Marie Collister in Portland, Oregon. She was later joined by brothers Tom Collister, Jim Collister and sister Mildred Marie Collister. She was raised in Portland until her family moved to Woodburn in her teen years where she graduated from Woodburn High School. It was there that she met the love of her life, Delmond W. Voreis.
Dorothy and Delmond eloped and married in 1940. As their family grew they made Gladstone their home. Dorothy was a busy homemaker and mother of five children. She also worked alongside her husband assisting him in his construction business. She was known as a caring, thoughtful, generous person who impacted many lives during her 96 years of life. She was also known for her baking and cooking skills which she freely shared with family and neighbors.
She was proceeded in death by her husband of 67 years Delmond and her eldest son Bill Voreis. She is survived by her daughter Dorothy D. Voreis, sons David H. Voreis and Jon W. Voreis and his wife Kim Voreis and daughter Jeanie Voreis Lowery. She was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dorothy's honor to Gladstone First Baptist Church to purchase audio equipment. Checks may be made out to Gladstone First Baptist Church, noted for the Dorothy Voreis Memorial fund.
