Doug is survived by his wife of 49 years Mary Long, his daughter Caroline Wenger, their sons Christopher Long and Michael Long; grandchildren Corey Wenger, Abby Long, Sammiera Long, Ashley Collins, Joelle Varner, Cj Long, Mike Long, Jacob Long; and great grandchildren Juliana Wenger, Brynlee Wenger, Benson Payne, and Christopher Alan Long III.
Doug was born 5/19/1948 in Spokane, Washington. He was adopted by his aunt Charlotte and uncle Fred Long and had a brother, Randy Blank. Growing up in SE Portland and attending Franklin High school, Doug was drafted into the army in 1969 and served during the Vietnam war in Germany. He was a sharp shooter and drove a 6x6. This would lead him to his eventual career in the trucking industry.
When Doug left the military in 1971, he returned to SE Portland and followed in his dad's footsteps as a carpenter. He eventually found himself behind the wheel of an 18 wheeler where he would drive for many years, including a time owning his own company, Magnum Transportation and Services. Doug most enjoyed the competition of racing circle track and hunting. Doug wasn't always outwardly joyful, but behind the wheel of a 56 Ford, a 65 Chevelle or hunting The Trask Unit, you could always see a smile.
