Harold Galen Evans, age 94, of Milwaukie OR, passed away April 19, 2019.
Harold was born February 4, 1925, at home in Newton County, Missouri near Saginaw. He was fourth of thirteen children born to Eddie Earl Evans and Eliza Ann (Berry) Evans. He attended Reinmiller, a one-room school, for eight years then graduated from Duenweg High School.
He served three years in the Navy during WWII stationed on Guam servicing a radar station. On June 16, 1949, he married Virginia Sims of Jasper, MO. They were married for almost 70 years. In 1950, they moved to Oregon and lived in the Beavercreek area for 59 years.
Harold worked 28 years at Publishers paper mill in Oregon City as a millwright. He served as a shop steward and took part in organizing the AWPPW union.
His favorite pastimes were his grandchildren, gardening, fishing, hunting, traveling, and camping.
Survivors are wife Virginia, five children Eddie Evans, Canby OR; Nancy Hall, Canby OR; Lee Evans (Gayle), Milwaukie OR; Galen Evans (Sherrie) of Estacada OR; Randy Evans (Chikako) of Sapporo, Japan; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
