Jacob Daniel Hughes was a great son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend to
all who knew him. Jacob left this world suddenly and unexpectedly on
December 7th, 2025. He was born to Jennifer Veracruz and Daniel Hughes on
July 30th, 1995, in Oregon City, Oregon. He has two sisters, Emily and Abby,
who are devastated about losing their brother. He grew up in Oregon City
camping, fishing, snow skiing, and taking trips to the beach. He loved music
and he always had new playlists to put on for his family. He enjoyed going to
the movies, eating good food, and hanging out with family and friends. From
an early age, he worked with his father at Dan's Cylinder Head, a
family-owned machine shop. This is where Jacob developed his strong work
ethic and service to others. His current job was with Central City Concern as
a driver. This is a company that assists people in recovery with jobs, homes,
and health. His legacy is not defined by his ending, but the authentic truth he
delivered through his service to others. He showed us that even the parts of
ourselves we might deem ugly or broken are worthy of being seen and
understood. He was always making people laugh and bringing joy to others.
He was so loved, and he will be deeply missed. He is preceded in death by
his grandparents, Cecil and Rita Mahoney, and Tom and Charlotte Hughes.
His uncle Pat, aunt Janet, and his cousin Trevor Hughes. He leaves behind his
mother Jennifer, father Dan, sisters Emily and Abby, girlfriend Brenda,
stepfather Jerry, stepsister Sierra, stepbrother Kyle, aunts, uncles, his many
cousins, and all of his friends. The funeral service will be at St. John the
Apostle Church in Oregon City on January 30th at 11:00 a.m. with reception
to follow.
