Joan (Smith) Andersen, 89, of Oregon City, Oregon passed away on October 14, 2022.
Joan was born on May 2, 1933 to Edna and David (Bus) Smith, in Portland, Oregon. She spent her early years in Gaston, Oregon. In the fourth grade, the family moved to Oregon City where she graduated from Oregon City High School in 1951.
In September of 1951, she married Donald G. Andersen. They remained in Oregon City to raise their three children who survive her; Denise Andersen Rolen (Roger), Debra Rutledge (Rick), and Donald Andersen Jr. (Jennifer).
In 1993, Joan retired from Sears after 37 years of Service. After retirement, her hobby became her 5 grandchildren. Andy (Desiree) Rolen, Morgan (John) Fetzer, Donny (Chelsea) Andersen, Bailey Andersen, and Tanner (Taylor) Rutledge. She was the perfect Grandma.
Joan loved cooking and making her famous cookies that some how made it to all the family events.
Her Great Grandchildren, Nora, Brooks, Reed, Easton, Drake and Leni became her cherished visitors. They all knew she had ice cream and the treat drawer would be full of candy.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Andersen, her great granddaughter Rylee, her brothers Delbert (Bud) Scharbrough and Donald Scharbrough.
the family requests donations be made to Pioneer Food Pantry, an organization that helps feed hungry kids in the Oregon City school District.
