Obituary

Laura Lee Morgan, 84, passed away on October 4th at Gilman Park Assisted Living in Oregon City, Oregon. She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred T. Morgan, who died 24 June 2016. She was born 25 August 1932 in Whitman, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Charles Herbert Kent and Laura (Raymond).

Laura had been a Tucson, Arizona resident for 55 years prior to moving closer to her son and daughter-in-law, Douglas & Belinda Morgan, and grandson Zachary in the Portland metropolitan area. She grew up in and around Whitman, graduating in 1950 from Whitman High. She spent a decade working for AT&T, first as a switch board operator, and later as a line manager.

Al and Laura Lee Kent married in 1961, in Whitman MA. Laura joined Al in his recent move to Tucson, AZ. They enjoyed dining out, watching old movies, as well as vacationing along coastal southern California.

They were members of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and later Christ Community Church in Tucson. She volunteered at the churches, helping with children programs and also guided the church library for several decades. She also enjoyed delving into family genealogy. With her interest in writing, she published several of her poems and also took on the task of writing a children's Sunday School Lesson for the United Methodist Church.

She is survived by their son, Douglas Kent Morgan (Belinda); grandson Zachary Thomas Morgan, and nieces & nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Layton Aging & Alzheimer's Disease Center: https://www.ohsu.edu/xd/health/services/brain/getting-treatment/diagnosis/alzheimers-aging/giving/index.cfm

Laura and Al's funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 14th at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
