LaVone Kent, long time resident of Oregon City, passed away peacefully Monday, April 16, at the age of 89. A native to North Dakota, she married Ted Kent in Salem, Oregon. She worked briefly for the Oregon City School District and Clackamas County Elections Department. She was a PTA president, Campfire Girl and Cub Scout Leader, and active in the Oregon City Synchronized Swimming program. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and served on church council and Women's Group.
LaVone enjoyed painting, quilting, braiding rugs, gardening, deep sea fishing, and cooking. Her hands were never idle. Her love of history led her to serve as a docent at the historic Stevens-Crawford House. She was a member of the Clackamas County Historical Society and Clackamas County Home Extension Group.
LaVone is preceded in death by her husband, son, and siblings and is survived by three daughters, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Viewing will be at Hillside Chapel in Oregon City April 30th from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial service will be held May 1st at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Oregon City with reception following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clackamas County Historical Society.
