Les McDaniel, 60, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016. Les was born May 17, 1955 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Carl and Maxine McDaniel. In 1970 he moved to Princeton, Idaho. He joined the Navy in 1973 and served as a radioman on the USS Robert E Lee nuclear submarine during the Vietnam era. After his service he returned to Moscow, Idaho and attended Lewis and Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho. He graduated with an associate degree in Applied Science in Consumer Electronics and Radio Communications. In 1978 he met Cecilia Kopczynski and the two were married August 18, 1979 in Moscow, Idaho.
Les moved to Oregon in 1984. He loved being a father. His daughter, Mylinda McDaniel, was born in 1984 and his son Thomas joined the family in 1985. The family lived in Aloha, Oregon for 18 years before moving to Oregon City, Oregon in 2002. Les worked for Integra Telecom as a circuit designer for over 20 years.
In his free time, Les enjoyed gardening, camping and boating. He also loved spending time with his family and dog, Kirby. Every summer the family would find themselves spending time on the boat and enjoyed spending time at Detroit Lake and Lake Coeur d'Alene. Les had a wonderful garden that would provide great dinners during the summer. He had a wonderful sense of humor and could often be found instigating water fights during the summer.
Les is survived by his wife of 36 years, Cecilia; daughter Mylinda; son and daughter-in-law Thomas and Christine; father Warren Iverson, sister and brother-in-law Tamy and Eric Thomsen; sister Cheryl Gilbert; sister Marsha Whittington, and multiple nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Maxine McDaniel Iverson and Carl McDaniel.
Les had an infectious, fun loving spirit that will live on with his family and friends.
