Louise Lahmann, 93, passed away at home on November 17, 2023, in Milwaukie, OR. She was born Louise Mae Jackson on April 25, 1930 in Cecil, OH to Floyd Wesley Jackson and Mildred Agnes Farr. She was the eldest of siblings: James of Bandon, OR; Edwin (deceased); Carl (deceased); Ben of Springfield, OR and Josephine Maxham of TN. When she was nine years old the family moved to McMinnville, OR Willamette Valley and built a homestead on top of one of the hills off Hwy 18 in the area that is now known as wine country. Near their farm is the famous Glacier Erratic Rock that was rafted by an iceberg during the ice age from a source far up the Columbia River. Her family, and later mine, played on it as children as it was yet undiscovered. Now you can hike up to it.

Louise graduated from McMinnville High School in 1948. She had a career as Supervisor of the Maintenance and Cleaning Crew at Rose Villa Retirement Home and retired after 32 years of loyal and faithful service. She was much loved and appreciated by staff and tenants of the Villa because Louise always loved to be of service.

Louise married Alvin Dale Lahmann on October 17, 1948. Alvin was from Collyer Trego, KS and they met in McMinnville, OR at a dance. They had 3 children. Randall Lee (deceased at age 55); Lorita O'Leary, of Milwaukie, OR and Susan Renae (deceased shortly after birth). Alvin died in 2009 but his love and memory never left her mind. They shared nearly 60 years of love and devotion to each other. Over the years they traveled the entire United States sight seeing, visiting friends and family and taking in a country western concert along the way. Louise was fun-loving and always liked to remember the good times. Later in life Al and Louise discovered Gladstone Christian Church in Gladstone, OR where they made many friends and found a faith-filled life. Louise played Bunco with people she met through church and attended a writing group where she wrote interesting stories of life adventures and famiy.

Louise was best known for her kind, sweet disposition and her infectious smile. She always thought of others and was a tireless worker, helping wherever she could. She loved family and friends and liked to stay in touch by letters, cards or phone calls. She was young at heart and loved children, as they loved her. Her favorite pastime was working on genealogy where she acquired many friends that extended all over the world. She was patriotic and passionate about her country and the state of affairs in the world. She was well-read and never forgot a thing. She had a love of music, art, baking, making quilts and had a genuine interest in people and events of the world. Her interests and abilities extended far and wide. She expanded with the times and embraced new technologies, getting on the computer so she could watch her six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren grow up as they lived in various parts of the US. One of her last favorite memories was a road trip she took to Virginia with her daughter Lorita to attend her eldest grandchild's wedding. She also got to see her other grand children and great grandchildren. Along the way they stopped to visit a childhood friend in Ohio and a favorite cousin in Michigan as well as other family in Chicago, Virginia, Kansas and Colorado.

The service for Louise Lahmann will be held on November 30th at 1 PM at Hillside Chapel in Oregon City, 1306 Seventh St 97045. A reception follows. She will be buried next to her life-mate in Mountain View Cemetery in Oregon City.
