Margarete Thurow was born the youngest of four children having had three older brothers, in Raudten, Germany. After persevering a hard childhood in war torn Germany, she met the love of her life, Erwin Thurow, at the age of 16. They married when she was 18 and then had two children. As things became worse with the war, they immigrated to the US in 1961 where they lived in California for 30 years. They then moved to Bend, Oregon before finally settling in Oregon City, Oregon for the last years of her life.
Margarete was a gourmet cook, avid gardener, birder, who also loved reading, knitting and weaving. She enjoyed intelligent conversation, was a devoted wife and mother, loved her friends and had a wonderful sense of humor.
She leaves behind her husband of 70 years, Erwin, daughter Regina( Martin) of Oregon City and Sabine ( Michael) of Ennis, Montana.
Special thanks to Dana Miller and the kind staff at Bristol Hospice and the kind care givers at Homewood Heights.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
