Maria Esther Cuevas (Esther), 97, passed away on June 2, 2025, in Portland, Oregon.
Esther was born on March 30, 1928 in Lares, Puerto Rico, to Jose and Gabriela Cuevas.
Esther married Adrian Crespo Ruiz in 1950, they had 62 years together. The couple had 2 children, Juan & Albert.
Esther lived in Puerto Rico until they Moved to Manhattan, New York in 1963, then to the Bronx in 1964. Esther raised Juan and Albert on her own there until her husband was able to come over. In New York she worked at a hand bag company. She made sure her boys went to Catholic school and stayed out of trouble.

They moved to Oregon in 1982. Esther was best known for her love of God. She has always had her own altar in her room and would pray for everyone. Her most precious gift was caring for her family especially her grandchildren. She loved cooking, singing, dancing and watching her favorite soap operas. She would cook all day long with no recipes just by taste. She would still dance when her spanish music was on this past year. Her love for everyone was infectious.

Esther is survived by Juan Ruiz (Judy)-son, Albert Ruiz-son, Brianna Sledz(Austin) - granddaughter, Skylar Ruiz - granddaughter, Mario Ruiz(Wai lin) - grandson, Krystal Ruiz - granddaughter, Klaudia Albany(Dwayne) - great-granddaughter, Noah, Aiden and Karolina Albany great great-grandchildren, Elijah Morales-great grandson, Lany Blanco(Alex) - granddaughter, Rio and Kai Blanco great-grandsons, Carmen Ortiz - sister, many nieces, nephews. and great nieces and nephews.

Esther is preceded in death by Jose Cuevas - father, Gabriela Cuevas - mother, Adrian Crespo Ruiz- husband, Louisa Justiano - sister, Rosita Hermida-sister

The service for Esther will be held on June 27th, 11:00 at St. Henry's Catholic Church.
