Marie Ann Marquardt aged 84 passed peacefully on February 14, 2024, at her daughter's home in Oregon City, Oregon.
Born April 13, 1939, she graduated from Oconto High School in Oconto, Wisconsin. She married Arvid (Jim) Marquardt on August 2, 1959, and headed West to make their home in Portland, Oregon. After their kids were in school, Marie went to work sewing mops. When the business was downsizing and closing their doors, she purchased a few of the machines and continued the business from her home.
Proud of her time working for Meals on Wheels in Oregon City which covered the Oregon City and West Linn area. She started out as a driver then moved up to be the coordinator position and rearranged all the routes for flow and ease of navigation. This was a vast improvement and shortened delivery time for each route.
She loved to travel and spend time in Arizona where she and Jim had mini family reunions. She and Jim loved their RV excursions including Nova Scotia and an RV train trip to Mexico. The family enjoyed many camping trips to the Hood Canal clamming and shrimping and playing cards or just relaxing in front of the campfire.
When not traveling, Marie loved to sew, making numerous quilts from scratch, and creating quilts out of quilt tops her grandfather and mother made. She also loved to crochet, knit, and latch hooks. Marie was always up for playing cards whether it be Pinochle, Golf, or thirteen. She was not a fan of dominos as she could not beat us at dominos. She always had a smile for everyone which will be missed every day.
Survivors include a brother Ed Hochmuth (Barb), a sister Jean McDowell (Thomas), children David Marquardt (Vickie), Dorine Gorsek (James), Veronica Martin (Michael), and Dennis Marquardt (Paula), six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents Frank and Athlyn Hochmuth, she was preceded in death by her husband Arvid (Jim) Marquardt.
