Mary Margarete Dorhofer was born on March 14, 1925 in Butte, Montana. She had two older brothers, Frank and Fred and loved to try and do whatever they did. She married Stanley J. Chebul on November 20, 1942 in Seattle, Washington. Stanette Marie (Rosenberger) was born there, a teeny tiny premature girl that they dressed in doll clothes. The next 10 years were spent back in Montana and Mark Stanley Chebul joined the family.

In 1949, Mary pushed the envelope of convention and became a business woman. She opened her first of five different Merle Norman Cosmetic Studios. Two locations were in Montana and 3 different stores were in California. Mary loved her studios and she and Stan happily attended conventions in places like New Orleans, Washington D.C., and the Bahamas. Meeting Jack Benney in an elevator and Stan burying himself in the sand to escape the Bahamian sun were favorite memories- as well as Mary winning the Ladies of Golf tournament and receiving her prize from the president of Merle Norman himself!

The family moved to California and in 1956 Rhoda Ann (Bohr) arrived to complete the family. Mary and Stan moved to Oregon in 1995 to be near Rhoda and girls. Mary and Stan continued to be active in church here at Trinity. As adult confirmands, their faith was an important part of life. Mary was active L.W.M.L., Gideon's International Auxiliary Bible Class, choir, Sunday School, Quilters and mission trips. At 78 years of age, Mary went on the Mission trip to Belize in 2003. She enjoyed that so much and it was quite different than her trips to Japan, The Holy Land, and Med Sea.

Mary loved her grandchildren and was so happy to spend time with them. If she was able, she attended events and encouraged them. Matthew Rosenberger, Maryette Huntinghouse, Melissa Standley, Marissa Chebul, Amy Munsterman, Monica Anderson and Marcus Chebul were some of her favorite people! Then the great-grands started to arrive and her new name "G.G." was created. Chance called her Great Grandmother Mary, but that was a mouthful, so G.G. it was. Chance and Max Harms, Sadie and Silas
Rosenberger, Isabell, Ryan, and Julie Standley, Skylar and Gaige Anderson, Jenna, Ellie, Cole and William Munsterman all had a G.G. who adored them.
Stanley died in 2000 and for almost 19 years Mary continued the legacy of family love and support. We are a family who worships together, vacations together and chooses to spend time together. Teaching and modeling family love and support was important to Mary. She was the one who really kept us kids in line. We'd get "the look" in church when we misbehaved. She was an artist. Stanette, Rhoda and several grands are artists as well. She sang in the choir, a grand and great grand sing in various choirs and the Portland Singing Christmas Tree. Family Legacy in action.

Mary moved from earth to Heaven on March 26th having just celebrated her 94th birthday a week in a half earlier. She was the last of "The Greatest Generation" in our extended Chebul family. We will miss her immeasurably, but we know she is so glad to be in Heaven in her perfect body praising our Savior. Mary would want you to be there too.
