Matthew Douglas Wyckoff was born March 2, 1987 and is the son of Douglas and Carol Wyckoff in Olympia, Washington. He had a wonderful childhood with his older brother, Tyler, and spent most of his free time playing sports and video games. He used both activities as tools to succeed in life. Matt had an amazing love for animals as well. As a child he would fall in love with an animal: cat, dog, fish, bird, rat, gecko and there was no negotiation as to whether the pet was coming home with him. That love of animals continued into his adult life as well.

After graduating from high school in 2005, he went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Business Management at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon, graduating in 2009. During that time he felt privileged to play college baseball with an exceptional group of guys. He was a gifted athlete throughout high school and college. Excelling in baseball, he was named the 2009 Northwest Conference Player of the Year and set multiple records including 18 times among the top 10 in various categories and was the all-time single-season hits leader, single-season RBI's, runs scored and career batting average, among others. He was also named an American Baseball Coaches Association and D3baseball.com All-American. In October 2021, he was inducted into the George Fox Hall of Fame.

He didn't know what his life would look like after baseball but found his next greatest success after marrying his wife, Karlee Sprague, in 2011 and starting a family. Matt has three beautiful children: twins McKinley and Blake, Age 6, and Ace, Age 3. The greatest joy Matt ever knew was being with his family. He was a very hands-on dad, and considered the time he spent with them a precious treasure. Together they would play sports, watch movies, take trips to the beach, and tell a lot of funny jokes. He enjoyed being a "giant child" and doing things to make his kids laugh. His kids enjoyed watching him do head stands and cartwheels, throw epic dance parties, and teach them to do new important things (like ride bikes, build a good fire, gut a crab, and how to throw popcorn up and catch it in your mouth).

Recently Matt found a new love for building and designed and constructed a greenhouse and nearly finished an outdoor office. He learned everything by trial and error and YouTube videos and really fell in love with this new hobby. Matt was such a loving and kindhearted person. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a gorgeous smile, and dimples! He was much loved and we are profoundly saddened by his passing.

Matt is survived by his parents Doug and Carol, his wife Karlee and children McKinley, Blake and Ace, his brother Tyler (wife Viktoriia), Karlee's loving family members, parents Matt and Kenda Sprague, brother Eric (wife Rachel), grandmother Ione "Nana", and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Those who passed before him were his grandparents Coley & Joye Wyckoff, Dick & Betty Hofmann and a cousin.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 1:00 - 4:00 at the Tumwater Ballroom, 211 Tumwater Drive, Oregon City, OR 97045.
