Nancy K. Miller passed away peacefully and in comfort at home with her family at her side on Monday, February 24 after a brief battle with cancer.
Nancy was born on June 23, 1941 in Huntington Park, California. She was the only child of Flora Ruth Fryer and Harry Kornfeld. She graduated from Dorsey High School and attended the University of California at Riverside, where she met her college sweetheart, Dennis Miller, who was immediately attracted to her. He found her to be "the cutest, nicest, smartest person he ever met." The fact that she had a paid-for blue VW Bug didn't hurt, either. They married and moved to Oregon where she graduated from Willamette University with a degree in English and a new baby – her first born. They moved into their home in Oregon City where she lived for the next 50 years through the remainder of her life.
In addition to raising her 3 children, she made many lasting friendships. After her children grew and left home, Nancy began working in the registrar's office at Clackamas Community College. She was a very strong supporter of education and life-long learning.
Nancy had a limitless love of friends, cats, and travel. She was always developing a plan for her next travel adventure. After retirement, Nancy and Dennis visited many interesting countries and met many people who remain close friends today. France always held a special place in her heart. Nancy was a self-proclaimed "crafty person" and enjoyed cross-stitching, crocheting, and going to quilt shows with friends.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Dennis, her three children: Cathy (Chris), Stephen (Carole), Amy, and her eight grandchildren. She was so very proud of her entire family.
Services will be held at Hillside Chapel in Oregon City on Saturday, March 14, at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, Nancy has requested that donations be made to the Cat Adoption Team at www.catadoptionteam.org .
