Nathan Grant Kirkpatrick (Nate) born January 6, 1978 in Portland Oregon, passed away peacefully at age 47, surrounded by his parents Mike and Becky Layton, and brothers Lane and Drew, on April 10, 2025, at his parents' home in Oregon City, Oregon.

He is preceded in death by his father, Douglas Grant Kirkpatrick, and infant son, Colton Grant Kirkpatrick.

Nathan was an avid outdoorsman, loved everything outdoors; archery and rifle hunting, as well as escaping to the Oregon Coast to fish, crab and clam with family and friends. Spending time at the coast was a passion of his, he would go every chance he could.
He would often cook up the days catch and was happy to share with everyone.

Working for Ewing Commercial Irrigation allowed him to spend many of his days outdoors, making new contacts, obtaining new customers or helping existing customers with designing new irrigation systems or helping with the systems they have in place.
He then became the area AG rep, traveling the region. He enjoyed the contacts he made, making lasting friends along the way.
Being around nurseries and farms spiked his love of plants and design.
He worked tenaciously turning his back yard into a park like setting, it was beautiful and brought him great satisfaction.

As a young toddler he enjoyed baking Christmas goodies with his Grandmother. This started his journey to becoming a self-taught chef. He devised many of his own recipes, always coming up with a new way of making a meal that was great, even more magnificent.
His BBQ and smoker were running all summer long with recipes he devised, always delicious and he was always happy to share.

Nathan fought long and hard against his diagnosis of a glioblastoma brain tumor for 22 months, he wanted so very much to live.
Always optimistic, always looking for new treatments, never giving up, remaining positive.

Oregon City, Oregon was his lifelong home, attending St. John the Apostle school 1st through 8th grade, and then onto Oregon City High School.

He is survived by his parents Mike and Becky, brothers Lane and Drew (Jenny), and many Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
He is missed tremendously, and will be remembered and loved forever by his family and all that knew him.
