Phillip Anthony Strand was born December 5, 1949 and passed away after an illness on September 15, 2019.

Phil was a talented, hard-working, smart and funny man who showered his family and friends with love. Born in Los Angeles, Phil moved as a child to Folsom, California. He grew up there getting into mischief with people who would become life-long friends. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War in the 179th Airborne Division as a helicopter mechanic working on Chinooks. After the war, he moved to the Pacific Northwest.

After a 25-year stint as a roofer, Phil moved into consulting eventually landing in the company of McBride Architecture. Phil's specialized knowledge in building envelope and waterproofing made him a sought-after specialist.

It's fitting that Phil's specialty really came down to keeping people warm and dry. During his life, he drew people to him with his warmth, good sense of humor and willingness to help. He gave loving support and shelter to his first two adopted children, Rich and Beth, to his step-children, Brian, Kenny and Cheryl, and to his daughters, Jennifer, Sarah and Angelyca. He loved his wife, Beth, with an undying love. He gave freely of his time and attention to friends, neighbors, co-workers and stray animals. He spoke his love the most clearly in his actions.

Phil will be missed beyond words and is gone from us much too soon.

A celebration of his life will be held on September 29th at 11:00 am at Hillside Chapel. There will be an opportunity for viewing during the hour prior to his memorial.

His daughters have requested that vibrant colors or Hawaiian shirts be worn to reflect his love for bright colors. A burial with military honors will take place on September 30th at 10:30 am.
