Randy was born to Everett and Helen Cannon on Father's Day, June 16, 1946. He grew up in Milwaukie, Oregon in the Ardenwald neighborhood and graduated from Milwaukie High school in 1964. Randy enlisted in the Air Force in 1965. He was stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Great Falls, Montana and was deployed to Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Saigon, Vietnam in 1968. He returned home in 1969. He married his former wife Cheryl (Kemmer) in 1971. They had two daughters, Stacey and Renee. Randy was the sometimes coach and always the biggest fan of his daughters as they grew up playing sports. He loved coaching them, traveling to tournaments, going to practices, and being the friendly face at all of their games. Randy was always so proud of the accolades they earned throughout their youth, high school, college and adult careers.

Randy worked as an EMT for American Ambulance while he attended Portland State University. He graduated in 1974 with a degree in Business and began his career selling pacemakers and medical supplies. He enjoyed the friendships he made with the doctors and nurses on his hospital routes throughout Oregon. In the mid-90's he became a small business owner when he purchased a mobile blind cleaning business (All Pro Blinds). However, it was 2001 when Randy found his dream job at Catholic Youth Organization as Sports Director for their Volleyball and Basketball programs. He was passionate about creating a positive sports experience for children and he was excited to be a part of the ongoing development of Camp Howard. He made countless friends and touched so many lives with his infectious enthusiasm, good humor, and kind spirit. He retired after 11 years but always stayed in touch with his CYO family.

Randy married his High School sweetheart, Nancy (Runyan) in 2007. They traveled extensively including trips to Africa, Europe, Canada and Vietnam. Each trip was special but the visit to Vietnam was particularly memorable for him. He made an instant connection with the people he met and was able to re-visit sites he had seen during his deployment. Randy participated each year in High School Living History Day to share his Vietnam experiences with students.

Retirement meant playing more golf. Eastmoreland was Randy's home Course but annual trips to Arizona with his buddies were not to be missed and spending more time in Palm Springs prompted a membership in Bermuda Dunes Country Club. Randy also loved the Oregon Coast and with his brother, Gary, was able to fulfill his dream of owning a boat. Randy was a true lover of all sports but Basketball was special. He was a top scorer in High School, played on Claudia's AAU team in the 70's and was an avid fan of the Ducks and the Trailblazers. His most treasured moments were attending games his son-in-law, Ryan, coached and the games his grandsons Tyler and Carson played.

Randy was never one to shy away from getting to know people. He had an enormous sense of humor and a warm, genuine personality. He loved his family first and foremost and cherished every minute with them. Randy is survived by his wife, Nancy, daughters Stacey (Marcel) and Renee (Ryan), grandsons, Tyler and Carson, and brother, Gary.

A celebration of Randy's life will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Hillside Chapel, Oregon City.
