Rob Guttridge walked on from this earth at his residence in Oregon City. He was born in Oregon City at the old Hutchinson Hospital to Wilma and the late Joseph Guttridge of Springwater Oregon. He spent his formative years on the family Century Farm in Springwater and was well known for speaking his mind and expounding on a variety of subjects. He graduated with honors from Estacada High School in 1972. He matriculated to the College of Notre Dame (CND) in Belmont, California to pursue a degree in journalism instead of attending the family preferred school Lewis and Clark College! This is where he met his spouse, Denyse McGriff. He graduated with honors from CND and returned to Oregon. He and Denyse were married on the family farm in 1985. Four years later, Stephen completed the family.
He worked at various jobs before finding a career in the field of recycling. He worked for the Bend Recycling Team, KB Recycling. His last employment was as a Waste Reduction Specialist at Clark County, Washington. Rob especially enjoyed traveling to area schools and introducing students to the environmental benefits of recycling. Upon leaving full-time work, Rob became actively involved in the family tree farm, and eventually acquired his own tree farm where he spent many enjoyable hours pruning, thinning, and improving the health of his tree farm. This lead him to involvement in many local forestry associations, and he was a very active volunteer in Clackamas Tree School, Hopkins Demonstration Forest, Clackamas County Farm Forestry Association, and Oregon Small Woodlands Association.
Rob was a lifelong member of the Springwater Grange #263, and the Springwater Presbyterian Church. Rob was active in the Rose City Astronomers, Assocation of Oregon Recyclers, was currently serving as the president of the Clackamas County Farm Forestry Assocation.
He is preceded in death by his father, Joe. He is survived by Denyse and son Stephen; brothers Alan (Rosemary), Gary, Don (Tami), Tim (Nike); nieces Marilyn, Jessie Jo, Kara and Kendra; brother-in-law Steven (Gloria), sister-in-law CarolAnn (Antonio), nephews Sebastian, Ethan, Justin, and niece Berlynn, and many cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Hopkins Demonstration Forest-Forests Forever Inc., or the Springwater Grange #263.
A private service and interment will take place for the family, followed by a celebration of life at 4 pm at the Springwater Grange #263 located at 24591 S. Springwater Road, Estacada, Oregon 97023. Please wear Pendleton or Plaid- Rob's favorite!
