We thought we would share some interesting information about our Dad so that you might know him better.
Dad left this life surrounded by the love and light of the strong group of women he left behind - His wife Pat, his daughters Kelly & Shelly, his granddaughters Lacey and Devrey, and his great granddaughter, Moira. We were honored to be with him in his passing.
Our greatest thanks go out to the wonderful team of Hospice workers who were behind us all the way.

November 16, 1934-2021 (86 yrs.)

Life Experiences:
 Son, Brother (1), Husband (2), Father (3), Grandfather (6) & Great Grandfather (3)
 Soldier in the Army in the Airborne Division, & later Army Reserves
 Married to Pat for 57 years
 Hobby Farmer – Lover of Animals
 Volunteer Fireman at Rosemont Station in West Linn
 Purchasing Agent for Tektronix for 27 years, later Purchasing Agent for other smaller companies
 National Purchasing Association – held multiple leadership positions, and was later the Historian traveling to conferences all over the U.S.
 Tinker of just about anything and liked old tools
 Traveler and World Cruiser by Ship (thanks to Pat)
 Volunteer at Powerland Heritage Park in Brooks, OR (Antique power equipment, trucks & museums)
 Accident Victim and Survivor of a Drunk Driver (which changed the course of the rest of his life due to the physical toll it took on him)
 Quadruple Bi-Pass Patient
 Collector of Antiques, cars, trucks and even his own firetruck he called "Super Pig"

Character:
 Humorist – could make anyone laugh
 Had a huge sense of pride regarding all that he accomplished
 He was always there to lend a hand to family and friends when asked
 He was warm but firm in his dealing with other people
 He was a strict disciplinarian as a father and threatened to "Cloud Up and Rain All Over You" if you didn't eat all your dinner - among other things.
 Dad had an amazing work ethic and usually was the first one at the office and one of the last to leave. He would still be mowing the lawn at 9:00 PM to get it done.
 He was practical, stoic and private and had a stubborn streak a mile long
 Was always interested in new things and learning how to do something he'd never done before. He was excellent at improvising!
 He was frugal – both on the positive side and also to the extent it made life harder than it needed to be.
 Had an iron will that got him through many trials and tribulations in his life
 He said at his 75th birthday party that when he was younger, it was important to keep up with the Joneses, but he came to realize later in life it wasn't worth the stress that caused. He had learned to identify what was important to him and to take the time to enjoy the simpler things in life and not worry about the rest.
 One of the most endearing things about him was his smile! It was authentic, warm and the crinkle at the corners of his eyes always showed he was engaging with you and was happy to do so. You could see the beauty of his soul in his smile.
