Ruth LaVerne Gobet (Tiedtke)
October 3, 1927 - March 13, 2024

Ruth LaVerne Gobet, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2024, in Canby, Oregon, at the age of 96. Ruth's journey began in Norfolk, Nebraska, where she was born to Donald and Luree Tiedtke on October 3, 1927. She moved to Oregon in the 1930s, setting the stage for a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Ruth married the love of her life, Leon Gobet, on November 16, 1946, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Oregon City, Oregon. Together, they embarked on a journey marked by devotion, building a family and a legacy that would endure for generations.

She is survived by her two sons - Gerald (Mary) Gobet and Steve (Linda) Gobet, her brother Donald (Irene) Tiedtke, and an extensive family tree that includes nine grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and twin great-great-grandsons on the way.

Ruth's life was a testament to the values of kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith. She was a dedicated member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, finding solace and strength in her faith throughout her life.

Ruth had an affinity for life's simple pleasures. She found joy in red roses, daytime soaps, and the comforting presence of angel decorations, figurines, and accessories. Her sense of style was impeccable, never leaving the house without makeup and adorning herself with stylish blouses and jewelry.

In the kitchen, Ruth's culinary skills were legendary. Her berry pies and potato salad were loved by all! Whether she was cooking for her family or the school lunch program during her many years at the Oregon City School District, Ruth's meals were always prepared with love!

Throughout her life, Ruth shared words of wisdom and wit, leaving behind a collection of memorable quotes such as "A little bit never hurt anyone" and her affectionate exclamation, "Oh, Leo…"

A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, April 5th, at 11:00 am at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Oregon City. Ruth will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she may rest in peace, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
