Ruth B. Huessy of Oregon City, Oregon passed away on December 12, 2017.She was born on August 13, 1916 to Ernest and Anna Bohney in Zunzgen, Switzerland.

Ruth graduated from High School, assisted her parents with the raising of her younger sisters, and did whatever she could to help her family during WWII. Before coming to America, she was an assistant to a Doctor in the French speaking part of Switzerland.
In school she had studied French, German, English and some Italian, so when an opportunity opened in 1947 to come to America, she made the decision to go. She said goodbye to her family, boarded an airplane and left on the greatest adventure she had ever taken in her life. Ruth came to Cincinnati, Ohio where her Aunt lived and resided with her husband, who was the Swiss Council in Cincinnati. She worked as a seamstress until she met my father at a First of August Swiss Club Celebration. They were married on October 15, 1949. I was born October 1950 and my brother Chris was born in February 1955. We lived for short periods of time in Kentucky, North Carolina, and Cincinnati, OH.

My parents bought a small farm in Goshen, Ohio where we resided for 14 years. My father was offered a job in St Louis, MO. and we lived there for 2 years before moving to Minneapolis, Minnesota. My father and mother resided there for 11 years before moving to Modesto, California, where they lived for almost 20 years. After my father's major heart surgery they moved to Oregon City, OR, where they lived till their passing.

Ruth and Eric were very faithful in attendance to the Lutheran Church in whatever city that we resided in. Ruth was very active in women's groups and projects of all sorts. Most of their friends were from Church or the Regional Swiss Club.

After leaving the farm in Ohio and moving to the suburbs of big cities she was content to have the best looking yard in the neighborhood. Her hobbies became flowers and the lawn, which she mowed twice a week. She was still so industrious that she mowed her neighbors lawn across the street for months just because it needed mowing. Crawling up the ladder was not out of the question if it meant the sky lights on the roof where clean. At 88 years of age, I put a stop to that but I had to endure her rebuke for months.
Ruth was a worker, not a talker. If things needed doing she just did it no questions asked. From as far back as I can remember my mother was industrious and productive, and her sisters have told me that Ruth was that way from adolescence. I can say with all confidence that my mother was a Proverbs 31 woman.

Ruth is survived by one sister in Switzerland, 2 sons, 5 grand children and 6 Great Grand children.

Ruth will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all of her family and friends.
