Shirley (JoAnn) Mainhood Obituary

Shirley J. Mainhood, 86, formerly of Coleman, MI, passed away peacefully at home on August 31st, 2024 in Oregon City, OR. Born to George and Jenetta McPhail February 12, 1938 at home in Ingersole Township, Midland County.

She married Roderick Mainhood in July 1955 in Farwell for a marriage of 67 years. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She enjoyed square dancing, bowling, years of quilt making for her family, and gardening. She was an accomplished pianist and accordion player, and supported a music ministry with husband Rod for 33 years. She was a prayer warrior and loved sharing her relationship with Christ to everyone she met. She loved her house full of family and celebrated all occasions and holidays with style, cooking and baking. She and Rod were Christmas decoration award winners.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers James, David, Ray, sister Barbara, son Nathan, grandson Collin, husband Roderick, and grandson Gabriel.

She is survived by her children Greg (Kim), Kim, Jacque (Patrick), Rick (Grace) and Wally, 10 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. A celebration of life will take place in the spring for Shirley, husband Roderick, and grandson Gabriel in Midland Michigan.
