Shirley Marl, 84 years old, passed away at home after a battle with breast cancer. Shirley was born in Saginaw, Michigan, and moved to Portland when she was four years old. She grew up in a large German family that included nine siblings. Shirley married Denny when she was 19 years old and, they eventually settled in Oak Grove, this is where they raised their four children. She was a homemaker, and hers was the house that all of the neighborhood kids wanted to hang out at. She truly had the gift of hospitality and made sure all who entered her home felt welcomed, comfortable, and well-fed. She also loved to dance, read, play bunco, go to church, and clean (her walls and cupboards were spotless)!

She will be greatly missed, but we take comfort in knowing that she is dancing in heaven with Denny and Jesus. There is a private service for family ONLY due to COVID-19 restrictions, but there is a viewing open for everyone at Hillside Chapel 1306 7th St., Oregon City, OR 97045 on Thursday, September 24th from 3-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's in honor of Shirley.

Shirley is survived by her four children: Larry (Tami), Brandie (Dale), Tracy (Susan, and Steve (Carol). As well as eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren, two sisters, one brother, and many nieces and nephews.
