Obituary

Stanley Gordon Edmonds, of Gresham, Oregon, passed away peacefully from Dementia on October 5, 2023, at the age of 90. Stan was born on July 25, 1933 to Harry and Lynnette Edmonds in San Mateo, California. After graduating from Rainier High School in 1951, Stan enlisted in the Navy. He spent his Navy career aboard the USS Calvert APA32, making tours to Japan, Korea, China, Hawaii and California. After his 4 years of service, Stan worked approximately 30 years for Hyster Manufacturing as a Machinist. In 1958, he met and married Barbara Olson. Together, with Barbara's daughter Kathy, they had three children, Steven, Carolyn and Diane. The family spent every summer camping near Mt. Hood and at the Oregon coast where they loved beachcombing for treasures. Some of Stan's hobbies were building and painting model airplanes, fishing and gardening. After the kids were grown, Stan and Barbara expanded their travels across many states and aboard cruise ships. After Barbara's passing in 1995, Stan married Bonnie Bitz, who had five children of her own, David, Brian, Michael, Andrea and Joel. During their marriage, Stan and Bonnie also made many wonderful memories together traveling. Stan was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Lynnette Edmonds; Step-parents, Dave and Sue Stanford; brothers, Clifford Edmonds and Harry Edmonds; wife, Barbara Edmonds; wife, Bonnie Edmonds; step-son, Joel Bitz; and step-grandchildren, Justin Bitz, Joshua Bitz and Tiffany Bitz. Stan is survived by his twin brother, Stuart Edmonds (Jan); sister, Janice Coleman; son, Steven Edmonds, daughters Carolyn Kerr and Diane Edmonds; step-daughter, Kathy Aultom (Pete); step-sons, Dave Bitz (Kim), Brian Bitz (Tracey), Michael Bitz, and Andrea Madsen; along with 16 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
