Stanley Gordon Sumich, 78, died August 8, 2017 in Portland, Oregon due to heart complications.
Born December 31, 1938 in Blachly, Oregon to John and LeEtta Sumich, he joined the Air Force out of high school and married Myrna Marie Enos in 1958.
Stanley spent many years working in the automotive industry and with The State of Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, as well as private consulting.
Stanley and Myrna are members of Ascension Catholic Church in Portland, Oregon. He was an active member of the parish, served for their food bank, and he enjoyed many friendships with fellow parishioners. Stanley enjoyed his time traveling with friends in his motor home, and in the last several of years he made several lovely trips to Hawaii with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and cherished his time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Myrna Sumich; daughters, Terri Pettit (Ron) and Tammy Blaskowsky (David); grandchildren, Heather Pettit, Allison Blaskowsky and Katherine Blaskowsky; and great-grandchildren, Kenadey Pettit and Logan Pfuhl.
His funeral will be held on Thursday August 17,2017 at 10:00 am at Ascension Catholic Church, 743 SE 76th Avenue Portland, OR; Father David Jaspers, officiating.
The family will hold a private burial.
