Maureen Babst, born on January 19, 1945, peacefully passed away on August 6, 2024. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who touched the lives of many.
Maureen dedicated over 30 years of her life to education as a teacher at Gladstone Elementary School. Her passion for teaching left a lasting mark on countless students, and her legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
Outside of the classroom, Maureen enjoyed the thrill of playing slot machines at the casino in Lincoln City. Whether it was the anticipation of a winning spin or the joy of spending time with friends and family, those moments brought her happiness.
Her greatest joy, however, came from spending time with her family. Maureen cherished every moment with her husband, Donald Babst, whom she married on April 29, 1967. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared memories.
Maureen leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold her in their hearts. She is survived by her her brothers Tom Handy and Terry Handy, daughter, Renee Wood, and son-in-law Ross Wood, as well as her son, Kevin Babst, and daughter-in-law Angela Babst. Her grandsons, Parker and Brady Babst, were the light of her life, and she reveled in their every achievement and milestone.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Shriners Hospitals for Children in Maureen's memory. Her passion for helping others lives on through the support of this wonderful organization.
A celebration of Maureen's life will be held at Hillside Chapel in Oregon City on Friday September 6th at 11AM, reception to follow at Jimmy O's Pizzeria. Friends and family are invited to join in remembering and honoring this remarkable woman.
