Our beloved Mother and Grandmother Violet Johnsen passed away at home on September 22, 2020 at age 93. A private service will be held at Hillside Chapel followed by her interment at St. John the Apostle Catholic Cemetery.

Violet was born on May 9, 1927 in Melrose Park, Illinois to Pearl and Henry Imholt. She went to school in Oregon and Illinois. The family moved often as a child, following crops. She married Eldon White in 1944. She was a family woman that lived a full life and enjoyed many creative endeavors.

Violet was a homemaker, and at times worked outside home in craft store and as clerk at Jolly Knight Motel in Newport. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and home canning food. She was an excellent cook - some specialties include roast, clam chowder, spaghetti, and Atsa Rolls, and homemade pies. She was an avid reader.

Violet was an excellent craftswoman. She sewed beautiful clothes, doll clothes, quilts, Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. She was licensed to make authorized Cabbage Patch Dolls and she gave them to grandkids and sold at bazaars. She knitted wonderful sweaters, afghans, and countless knit hats and scarfs. She crocheted clothes and afghans. She made macramé plant hangers, crafted beaded projects, and did ceramics. She handcrafted beautiful Christmas ornaments for family and friends and to sell at bazaars.

Violet is survived by daughters Sharon L McKinney of Oregon City, Laurie M Guenther (Jim) of Siletz, and Joanie Sinclair (Mark) of Toledo. Preceded in death by her first husband Eldon D White in August 2000, second husband Les M Johnsen in April 2016, and son James D White Sr in September 2010. Violet had 4 children, 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.
