Wayne Hauck passed away on Thursday January 11 of a coronary. He was born in Oregon City, OR on January 4, 1937, at home during a snow storm, to William and Evelyn Hauck. He attended Oregon City Schools and Graduated from Oregon City High School in 1955. He lettered in football and wrestling. While in High School from 1953-1955, he was a member of the Air Force Reserves. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Korea until the fall of 1957. Wayne met the love of his life, Carolyn Hanson, and they were married for 57 years, living in Gladstone, OR. Gary and Larry Hauck were born of this union. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, William "Bill" Hauck Jr.; and his dog, Molly Joy.

Wayne joined the Gladstone Volunteer Fire Department in 1962 while working at Cranston Machinery as an expediter/purchasing agent. After taking numerous fire science classes and holding various positions in the department, a full-time position became open for a Fire Marshal and he was hired over others who applied. He served as a full-time paid Fire Marshal for 20 years, a paid volunteer Fire Chief for 4 years, and a member of the volunteer fire department for a total of 36 years before retiring in 1997.

He is survived by his cherished wife, Carolyn; children Gary Hauck (DJ) and Larry Hauck (Shannon); mother-in-law Phyllis Hanson; and his dog, Dixie Doodle.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 3 at 11:00 AM at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 290 W. Gloucester St. in Gladstone. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Stephen Lutheran Church Memorial Fund (roof), or Dogs for a Better Living, aka Dogs for the Deaf.

The family asks that you spend time with your children, take a walk with loved ones, say "I love you" often to each other, and make a toast to enduring friendships, lifelong and beyond.
