Our story
Established in 1932, Hillside Chapel has been serving families in Oregon City and Clackamas County, Oregon for more than 75 years. It began in 1932 by Arnold Bierman with the name Oregon City Funeral Home. Mr. Bierman operated the funeral home until 1952 when it was purchased by Dick Conrad who changed the name to Hillside Chapel.
After working for Hillside Chapel for 15 years, Randy Thommen purchased it from Dick Conrad. Randy and his wife Jennie owned and operated Hillside Chapel with care and concern until October 2008. Their dedication to the families of Oregon City and this community was unwavering.
In October 2008, David and Darcey Bone purchased Hillside Chapel. David has been serving families in the funeral business since 1990. His passion for the funeral business comes from his desire to exceed every family’s wishes and expectations. Darcey Bone has joined David in this family owned and operated business after 10 years in the nonprofit sector.
